List 3 ways you could use Digital Storytelling in your classroom:
Justin Campbell:

1. In order to help students analyze the relationship between character and the plot aspect of setting in literary texts (Standard E1-1.4), I could assign students a project in which they create additional characters for the novel Great Expectations and use digital storytelling to place the characters in various settings of the novel and illustrate how the new characters would respond to the different settings.
2. In order to help students analyze the effect of an author's use of imagery and tone in literary texts (Standard E1-1.5), I could assign students a project in which they use digital story telling to illustrate poems. The students could tell the "story" of a poem by using pictures obtained through research or taken with a digital camera. They could add captions to the pictures and even add music to set the tone for the story.
3. In order to teach students how to decide when to use Standard English and when to use vernacular English (Standard E1-4.4), I could create a digital story. I could create scenes in which using Standard English is appropriate and scenes in which using vernacular English is appropriate. Parts of speech could be characters in the story, and rules of grammar could be illustrated with pictures.

As an educator, how will you teach/promote digital citizenship in your classroom?
